Finger Amputee Product Solutions

The chart linked below gives a glimpse into some of the commercially available solutions to the partial hand amputee community.

What always needs to be considered is: level of loss, needed functionality, personal goals, and insurance.

There are numerous other considerations but these are the initial ones that should help drive the conversation.

However, the first thing to do is to find the right clinic to offer you or your loved one the support they need.

Typically, you want to ask if the clinic or prosthetist see at least 5 partial hand patients a year. You may also want to inquire about whether they are paired up with an Occupational Therapist.

The reality may be, that the best clinic may not be down the street, a town over, or an hour away. Sometimes, you end up finding the right team and it may be 2+ hours away. While this can be a hardship, it is critical to know that this team will be a part of your life for the rest of your life, so you have to find the right one…or be open to looking again if something doesn’t quite feel right.
